Shall We Bless The Lord?

Psalm34:1-4 (KJV)

Psalm 34 is a very popular and rich Psalm. It speaks to our confidence in the ability and nature of God. He will do what we ask of Him, according to His will; God will perform when we trust in Him, listen and respond when we call on Him and He will deliver us when we seek Him!

David begins the Psalm by declaring what he will do; “bless the Lord at ALL times”

1 “I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.”

Praise stems from one’s experience of the goodness of God. No matter what you are going through today, you cannot deny that God has been good to you in some way. Are you alive and kicking? Bless the Lord, do you have a job? Bless the Lord. But more than that, bless Him at ALL times. Are you in pain? It means you’re still alive, bless the Lord! No food today? Bless the Lord, and let His praise be continually in your mouth, for God is good at ALL times.

2 “My soul shall make her boast in the Lord : the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad.”

The word boast is transliterated “halal” which means to shine. The favour of the Lord causes our souls shine! When we experience His goodness we become radiant, like a child receiving his birthday present. There is a glow upon us and a joy that is expressed from the depths of our souls. It is a joy that cannot be dampened and we explode in jubilant praise to our King!

3 O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together.

This is an invitation to all. When you are excited about something, you do not keep it to yourself. You always want to share the joy. Whether it is a testimony, or a joke, you want to share it. Joy and laughter is contaigious and so is praise. The Psalmist invites us to magnify the Lord and exalt His name. Let us all join together, “Praise the Lord!”

Verse 4 says, “I sought the Lord, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.”

Our Father is responsive. We must believe that He is and approach Him in that manner. We are delivered from ALL fear when we seek the Lord. We will be free to not only experience but possess the treasures and promises spoken of in His word. Seek your way out of fear!

Shall we bless the Lord at ALL times? Yes we shall!

Prayer

Father, You are so good! I praise and magnify You, I exalt Your name! I give you all honour and praise for You are worthy. Help me Lord that I will always see and speak of Your goodness, no matter what I am going through, in Jesus name, Amen!
