Love Grows, Fear Goes

We are continuing the discourse of eliminating fear from the life of the believer. Here is an interesting perspective: The agape love of God has the potential to be both an access and exit point. As you access God’s presence and love, you exit fear. This is another key to getting rid of fear in your life: to be perfected in love. 1 John 4:18 says:

“There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.”

The Greek words used for ‘perfect’ and ‘love’ in this text are ‘teleia’ (5046) and ‘agape’ (26) respectively. Teleia means something developed into a consummated completion by fulfilling the necessary process (spiritual journey). In essence, it speaks of maturity. Agape, as we know it, is divine love; unconditional love, that is enabled by God Himself.

What happens when something has been completed, consummated or it has matured? It means that it now exists in its purest form. This says that the only time that you will be free from fear in entirety, is when agape exists in you in its purest form!

Love, once matured, becomes an exit point for ALL fear. As the scripture says, it casts out fear. You may be asking, “How can I be perfected in love?” The answer is, through constant communion with Holy Spirit, by living in the presence of God. When we embrace Holy Spirit, who is the Spirit of adoption, who is the manifestation of God’s love for us, we can get to the point where we are not afraid and through process, we attain this perfection/ completeness. This means that you develop a consistent life of devotion: prayer, worship and the word.

I challenge you to make it a point of duty to seek out and abide in Abba’s presence. David said, I sought the Lord and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. This is proof that being in the presence of God eventually results in deliverance from ALL fear. Your deliverance is in your seek!

Prayer

Father, in the name of Jesus I come to You, recognizing that fear exists in my life. The truth is I have not been perfected in love in every area. Some areas I have conquered, others I still struggle in. I commit my fears to You today and more than that, I commit to seeking You and dwelling in Your presence so that Your agape will become mature in me, as You process me and that I may be delivered from all fear. AMEN
