The second aspect of the vineyard of the Lord that I would like to examine is found in Isaiah 5:2. See the bold print; it reads:
“And he fenced it, and gathered out the stones thereof, and planted it with the choicest vine, and built a tower in the midst of it, and also made a winepress therein: and he looked that it should bring forth grapes, and it brought forth wild grapes.”
Let us look at what the vine dresser has done for the vineyard.
The location, as we have already established is in an elevated place that is well watered and fruitful. Further to this, the vineyard has been fenced. It is protected! That being the case, it cannot be devoured by wild animals neither can it be trespassed upon by any being. When we see a fenced area, we know that it is private property. If anyone intended to pass through that way, their path will be diverted at the appearance of that fence.
It is God’s desire to protect you. The wild beasts spoken of in the text represent the devil and his cohorts. In Christ, you can be protected from the destructive devices of the devil. He cannot kill you, steal from you or destroy you because you are hedged in! Jesus said that NO ONE can pluck those the Father has given Him, from His hand. Therefore, don’t jump the fence! The Lord has already provided for your protection by building a fence round about you. You can be secure in Christ. While you are being watered and fed, there is nothing that can uproot you. God is also saying that you, being in Christ are His private property; trespassers are disallowed!
Do you remember Job? When Satan desired to destroy him and Satan told God that he cannot touch Job because he has been hedged in by God? (Job 1:1-3). Isn’t that awesome?! It says to us that we can freely live and thrive in the presence of God because we are planted and protected!
Father, what a wonderful thing to know that You have made provision for my protection in Christ Jesus. I acknowledge that there is no other way to be secure. I accept this security as I open my heart to Jesus today. I thank You that as I am planted in Your vineyard, I will be watered, well fed and protected. This is all I need Lord, I bless Your holy name for only You can make this possible. I pray that You will keep me in Your love, in Your vineyard, for Your glory. I pray this in Jesus’ name, AMEN!
