Planted: Stones

In this interesting journey that we are on you may say, well, it can’t get any better than this. In Christ, we are elevated, well fed, watered and protected: life is good! But wait, there is more to this! We have but scratched the surface.

Let us take a look.

Isaiah 5:2: see bold print

“And he fenced it, and gathered out the stones thereof, and planted it with the choicest vine, and built a tower in the midst of it, and also made a winepress therein: and he looked that it should bring forth grapes, and it brought forth wild grapes.”

The vine dresser has gathered out the stones from the vineyard. Stones hinder the growth of plants by depriving them of the space that they need and will cause them to bend in awkward directions to find their way above the surface of the soil. If the seed manages to germinate, the growth of the plant will be stunted for lack of space. When the plants cannot grow uprightly, their strength is diminished!

With the removal of the stones, the vine to be planted can grow freely without impediment. The stones were gathered out! This says that careful attention was paid to their removal, they were searched out and removed.

Notice that all what we have discussed so far is the vine dresser’s preparation of the vineyard for planting. It shows us the amount of attention and care that the Lord gives to us. Seeing this should encourage us to yield to His planting by receiving the Lord Jesus into our hearts and lives. We are without excuse, everything has been prepared! Isn’t that great news?!

Father, every thing that You prepared for me is good. I bless Your holy name! I thank You for having removed those things that would hinder my growth. I acknowledge that You have prepared me for success, You have prepared me to fulfill  my purpose in Christ. I love You Lord, because You loved me enough to prepare my place and to plant me in Your vineyard. Help me to yield to You as you continue to remove the stones that may be thrown at me by the enemy to hinder my growth. I pray this in Jesus’ name, AMEN!
