Up to this point, we have spoken of how the vine dresser has prepared the vineyard for the planting of the vine. We discussed how He has made sure that the conditions within the vineyard are suitable for the vine to thrive even before He plants. We see this reflected in our own lives, how God has made it possible for us to live victoriously by securing us in Christ.
Today, we look at the planting. Keep in mind that in this text, the Lord refers to His people as the vineyard and as those He has planted.
Isaiah 5:2: (see bold print)
“And he fenced it, and gathered out the stones thereof, and planted it with the choicest vine, and built a tower in the midst of it, and also made a winepress therein: and he looked that it should bring forth grapes, and it brought forth wild grapes.”
The vine being spoken of was planted with the choicest vine. This can say two things to us:
- The best vine was planted in the soil
- There was no defective vine planted in there to deplete the soil.
God has planted us in Christ, He has planted us in His Kingdom. When He created us in His image and likeness, He said that it was very good. He breathed Himself into us and placed us on Earth to function like Him. David, in Psalm 8:4-8, is trying to comprehend what is in man that God considers him, even to make him a little lower than the angels, to crown him with glory and give him dominion! Wow! Moreover, we have been chosen to reveal the nature and character of our Lord Jesus Christ (Ephesians 1:4). We are called to show forth the praises of Him who has called us and loved us with an everlasting love.
The vineyard of our Father contains the best! Do you believe that you are God’s best? You are God’s best because Christ lives in you.
I sense that there are many of you who have rejected yourself because you felt like you are not good enough. A lot of you have walked away from God or plan to because you feel like you have failed so many times that you have lost hope and lost your place. God is saying to you that “I am the Lord who will prune you and fashion you according to who I have made you to be. I will perfect every thing that concerns you if you will yield to Me. It is I who have planted you, you have not planted yourself. Therefore yield and see that I have made available to you everything that you need to grow and to flourish and to bear good fruit. I am the Lord who created you, even in My image, after My likeness. YOU ARE MY BEST! Therefore have I planted You in my Kingdom, yea even in My presence.”
To those of you who have disqualified yourselves and have made yourselves outcasts from the presence of God, know that He is searching you out. You have jumped the fence, but He wants to secure you. Yield, as He says and you will see the manifestation of His glory and His restoration in your lives.
Father, I have doubted myself so many times, I have struggled with my identity and most of all when I fail You, I feel as if I am no good to You. Lord today I receive that I am Your best because You chose me in Christ, I am Your best because Jesus died for me, I am Your best because You have planted me. Because You have planted me Lord, I shall not be uprooted, no matter how many times I fail, I know that You will help me. Lead me, guide me, help me to be my best self because I am Your best. Let the resurrection power of the Lord Jesus Christ be manifest in my life to bring restoration, as I surrender to You now. I pray in Jesus’ name, AMEN.
